Aeroplan Will Introduce Airline Transfer Partners and Only Devalue on 5% of Routes

Aeroplan is an independent separately traded company. Air Canada spun it off to raise cash and at the time locked in a 15 year agreement for an exclusive partnership. Aeroplan expected to renew this deal on less favorable terms, and planned to squeeze customers as a result.

But Air Canada is launching a new frequent flyer program in 2020 instead, leaving Aeroplan in a pickle.

Dallas Centurion Lounge Closed Through Mid-August

A year ago American Express inked an expansion of the Miami lounge - arguably the brand's most crowded - and did a deal to replace the current DFW lounge with a new nearby larger one.

That project seems to be behind, and the current Centurion lounge at Dallas Fort-Worth is closed until August 14 for repairs.

IHG Rewards Club - the loyalty program for Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and related brands -- is offering a bonus up to 100% on purchased points through August 22. This applies to purchases of 5000 or more points.

They do make you validate your IHG Rewards Club account information. Some accounts seem to be offered a 100% bonus. I've also seen a 50% bonus.

Insights into How Credit Card Payments Work From the CEO of Plastiq

Bill payment service Plastiq charges your credit card and then pays the bills you ask them to. That way you can earn credit card rewards for bills you might otherwise pay by check (currently only Mastercards allowed for mortgages), and benefit from convenience and float, charging something at the beginning of a credit card billing cycle and paying it off at the due date weeks after the end of the cycle.

Their CEO did an AMA on Reddit and offered some interesting insights into payments and their business plans.
